  George Hull says, My father, in the arly days before the railroad was built through eastern Oregon, freighted merchandise from Umatilla landing on the Columbia over the Blue Mountains. He went down the Grande Ronde River to LaGrande, through Ladd Canyon and across the Powder River Valley to Baker City. I was a small boy, but I remenber seeing father father start from home in his big wagon driving four or maybe it was six horses.
